The Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards is a 17-exhibit shrine to Baltimore and Maryland sports. Located in the basement and first floor of the old Camden Station, the 22,000 square feet of memorabilia, archives and displays opened for business on May 14, 2005. Camden Station was originally a major railroad station, serving passengers on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The first Civil War confrontation took place on the steps of Camden Station, when Union troops and southern supporters collided. Before the Museum's opening in 2005, it had gone largely unused since the 1980s. Museum exhibits focus on the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Colts and Baltimore Ravens, as well as other sports. The 17 exhibits at Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards are Babe Ruth: American Icon; Cal Ripken, Jr.: Focus On A Hall of Fame Career; Nine Innings Of Orioles Baseball; Orioles Hall of Fame; Almost Religion: Baltimore's Colts; Johnny Unitas: Best There Ever Was; Baltimore Ravens: A New Tradition; Lincoln, the Civil War & Camden Station; The Negro Leagues: A Baseball Legacy; Minor League Baseball in Maryland; Amateur Baseball in Maryland; The Baltimore Blast: Indoor Soccer in Baltimore; The Locker Room: Kids Discovery Zone; Maryland's Stadiums, Ballparks & Arenas; College Game Day: Sis Boom Bah!; The Uniqueness of Maryland: Phelps, Lacrosse and The Preakness; The Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame.
