        <description><![CDATA[Thomas V. Mike Miller is the president of the Maryland Senate. The Democrat represents District 27, which comprises parts of Prince George¿s and Calvert counties. Miller joined the Maryland legislature in 1971 as a member of the House of Delegates, and he moved to the Senate in 1975. He has served as Senate president since January of 1987.                                  Miller, the oldest of 10 children, was born on Dec. 3, 1942, in Clinton, Md. He holds a B.S. in business administration from the University of Maryland, College Park and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1967. Miller and his wife Patti live in Chesapeake Beach in Southern Maryland. The couple has five children and 11 grandchildren.                 ]]></description>
